Do you have an unhealthy obsession with cats, cat pictures, cat figures, and just anything ferociously feline?
Is your phone attached to your liver like mine?
Are you just not getting enough kitty pics and gifs in your life from places like Imgur, Reddit, iFunny, 9Gag and the others?
Well, even mobile games need love every now and again. Prepare yourself for the cuteness.
Welcome to Neko Atsume.
Neko Atsume is a mobile game, brought to you by Hit-Point, available for both the Android and IOS. Since my last experience with a mobile game left me heaving in the trashcan where Kim Kardashian’s talent is, I could use a fresh start and this game gives me so many cute options.
Neko Atsume is a time based game where the goal is to, at random intervals, check your phone for cats, that will give you fish, which are your currency, to buy more things, so that you can then – you guessed it – get more cats. You have the opportunity to take pictures of the cats when you find them and put them in your album because nothing says “I’m a cat lady” like 12 different pictures of cat butts.
You can buy scratching posts and cute toys for your cats to play with so that more cats give you more fish and soon you’ll be able to expand your yard and fit more comfortably in your mobile cat-lady life because your life is and forever will be cats.
The fish can be standard gray fish or the golden fish which are this game’s pay-to-play currency. The game has to make its money somehow right? You think these cats have it easy? Life isn’t puurfect for them out here.
….
No apologies. And if you thought that that pun was bad, then this game’s got a surprise for you.
Let me introduce you to….
Saint Purrtrick,
Guy Furry,
And the illustrious cat himself, Mr. Meowgi.
These are just a few examples of the rare, hard to find feline friends you’ll fling yourself at to fish for. And then there’s Tubbs.
Tubbs can go scratch himself…
There isn’t much to say about the game except that if you aren’t on your phone as often as most millennials, tweeting about the latest outrage, you might not get the most out of the game as you won’t be putting enough time in to fill the bowls of food that hopefully Tubbs won’t completely devour. You’ll probably learn to hate Tubbs.
Anyhoof, here’s the breakdown.
If you have a boring office job or just way too much time on your hands, then this game will be perfect to suck up what time you thought you had. I played it and was entertained for about a month but the interest died after that. The cat puns are funny and cats themselves are just so darn cute. But don’t take my word for it, download it and try it out. It’s free. Who can say no to a free game?
Neko Atsume – The cutest waste of time you’ll ever have on your phone.
